To start out with, this email started out as a shameless plug for my new
site:
http://www.SunnysideAtheism.com/If you get some time, take a look and tell me what you think. If you
really like it, a link on your blog
or elsewhere would be appreciated, but not expected.
That out of the way, I'd like to extend my personal thanks to you.
(Whoever you might be) More so
than any other person, site, or other resource, your website helped me
make the rather difficult
transition out of the cult (Yes, a literal cult) I was in. I don't
really know how to express thanks for
something like that. I was clearly being groomed for larger roles in the
cult. I taught Sunday school,
directed the children's choir, and even gave children's sermons up
front. (Though I was never very
good at that last one.) Without your site's help, I think there's every
chance that I would have spent
the only life I'll ever get worshiping something that isn't even there.
And worse, converting other
people. And worst of all, teaching this crap to children. (I'm not sure
I'll ever forgive myself for that last)
I suppose I really should have written this two years ago, when I first
found your site and came out
of the cult, but I've always been horrible about thanking people for
what they've done for me. I hope
this belated thanks is worth something to you. You've done a good thing
in this website.
Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
