I have a joke here, but, I'll keep it to myself.

A god is like a rock: it does absolutely nothing until someone or something forces it to do something. The only capability the rock has is doing nothing until another force compels it physically to move.

Good stuff. May be worth joining the forums, or elaborating on specific parts of the book/forums that you found most useful.

There's plenty of good resources out there.  Here's a short list of other places you may want to browse through;

* The WWGHA and GII web sites have other resources beyond the forums;

  50 (51, 52, ...) simple proofs:

* The WWGHA short list of excellent pages;

* Ex-Christian - "This site is designed with the intention of encouraging ex-Christians, former Christians, de-converting Christians and other non-believers in the decision to live life based on rational thought rather than religious mythology."

* de-conversion - "This blog attempts to critically, but respectfully, address issues with ... religious ideologies, especially Christianity."

* Video: Video sites and YouTube channels; (also discussions)

* The Atheist Experience TV show; -- Out of Austin TX with many back episodes -- The best short clips from the show

* Audio: podcasts and other audio programs;

* Atheism blogs and places to socialize; -- text blogs (also videos) -- many groups (new; 87 groups) -- many more groups (established; 363 groups and many members)
Smart people believe weird things because they are skilled at defending beliefs they arrived at for non-smart reasons. --Michael Shermer

The history of religion is a long attempt to reconcile old custom with new reason, to find a sound theory for an absurd practice.  --Sir James George Frazer
