God [#955]
« on: January 21, 2009, 07:16:17 PM »

God does everything thats good for us, hes not just a magical wishing machine. I prayed to have a teacher that i adored, and i didnt get why i didnt get him. Then i said God ill never listen to bad music again and threw the cds out, and bad movies. Then i realized why God did this, to help me become closer to him. And also if theres no God then what created the universe nothing? lol thats sad

I'm with Tails on this one.  What is bad music?  And what is "bad" music to you may be awesome music to a whole bunch of other people.  You ever heard the phrase "In the eye of the beholder?"  Well, in this case it's the "ear" of the beholder.

God does everything thats good for us,

Then what is he doing when good stuff doesn't happen that is needed or when outright bad stuff is happening?  Who's doing that?

Oh, wait, let me guess...the devil?  Who made him?

There are many creation myths, so who knows which set of gods created all we see.
If you are following God why can I still see you?

Spelling and grammar aside,

What created God?
If you say that God always was, the same rule can apply to the universe.

Think about it.

Look up infinite regress, or chain of gods. Google is your friend.

Let me guess... God controls everything in our lives (for whatever divine reason He has) and when something great happens you thank God.  However, if something bad happens it's instantly Satans' fault.... right....

Haha, you're kidding right?.... oh you're not, then let me laugh harder... HAHAHA!!!  Do you honestly believe what you just typed.  God gave you a bunch of crappy teachers so you wouldn't listen to "bad" music or watch "bad" movies?  I bet if you were forced to listen to Disturbed and watch a little porn your little Christian/God fuse would short-circuit and you would go in to divine convulsions.

And how do you define "bad" music or movies?  Bad to me is country, hard-rap, and heavy screaming metal while others find country, hard-rap, and heavy screaming metal absolutely fantastic.

According to our current knowledge from what we can see, test, and rationalize the universe has always been.  The Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy states that mass-energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only change form.  Every atom in the universe has always been.

And what formed our universe was the rapid expansion of space-time known simply as The Big Bang.  Before ours there may have been many more universes that expanded then collapsed in a steady pattern.

As the Why Won't God Heal Amputees web site points out;

    * If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]
    * If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]
    * Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]
    * Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew 17:20]
    * Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. [Mark 11:24]

If what you are saying is true, then the Bible is in error.  If this is the case, how do you know your god God?  Is it a different deity from the Christian one addressed in the videos?

Interesting.  How do you know your deity instructed you to do those things?

That's a question that gets asked quite a lot.  The best reply I've ever heard is this one;

...or maybe this one;

Yep.  I'd say the second one is the best one I've heard so far.  I'll go with that one.

That said, there are so many possible examples of this conversation and I've had them dozens and dozens of times myself.

Do you have a reply that is better than either of the callers into the TV show I provided clips for?  If you do, come to the forums.  I'd love to hear something new.
