Here's where reason and evidence must be quashed like a dirty "sin". That is NOT reasonable or healthy. Here's the crux of it: You want more faith so that you can insulate yourself from life's pain and disappointments and you want to believe you will survive your own death out of fear of ceasing to exist. It's fantasy and leads to more disappointment, except the being dead part.

Which makes it even more likely that the bible has no divine inspiration, but is just a glimpse into the mentality of Bronze-age sheep-herding warriors.  If this is your source for ideas about the nature of God, doesn't this warrant a closer look?  If it's not, what is?

What gave you the idea that he died for all men?  The fact that in the bible no concern is shown for anyone not living in the middle east at the time?  The admonishment against casting pearls before swine (gentiles)?

One of the reasons I don't believe in God is a lot of the "sins" I don't feel are very sinful.  For example masturbation is the result of the bodily desire in all people and unworthy of the title sin.  Also the fact that hitting on someone counts as adultery is totally bogus.
