Part of me hopes it's dark matter, the other part not so much.

Found on Facebook.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

Interesting, if it can be confirmed.

I wince at the choice of the word "signal" in the title, though. A lot of people are going to see that and think in terms of an ET civilization trying to communicate, rather than the more general definition.

That was my reaction as well. Why not call it what it is: X-rays? Even the first line of the article is horribly phrased, possibly intentionally:
Quote
Astronomers have detected a mysterious signal in X-ray data from a study of galaxy clusters
Although, right after that bit, they do explain what it actually is.

^^^True enough. And it may have been an editorial decision, not the original writer's phrasing. Something like: "We need to grab people's attention, and 'unknown x-ray source' doesn't do that. Just change a few words at the beginning, to draw readers into the article."

If that was the intent, gotta admit it worked for me.

All it did for me was make me dislike liars even more.
