I've silently been reading this forum for a few months, and also check almost daily whether I'm at school or on the road. I think im ready to join the discussion.
I'm young, compared to the ages of those who I see posting. I am a junior in highschool, currently.
I was born in Punjab, India. About five to six years ago, I came to America. I was prominently Sikh.
When people ask me "What religion am I?", I say "Sikh, by values."
I am only Sikh from the values I've gained, the lessons I've learned, and the wisdom I've been given by my society.
In no way am I Sikh by a belief in a god. I am an Athiest. I reject the belief in any god, solely out of common sense. Such a notion is self contradictory at best. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and any other "higher power" religions are no better.
Many times I've debated with a Christian friend of mine, and eventually, he didnt want to argue any further. He doesn't accept evolution, and I feel in no way that I've won.
I see many heated debates here, and hope to see any real arguments posed by theists. Although, I do love reading Junebug's threads (congrats on the good news, by the way).
So I hope to be accepted here, learn more about the origin of the Universe, and leave with ever increasing curiosity.
