Board reorganization
« on: March 08, 2009, 02:01:10 PM »
Hi,

In order to reflect better the volume and topics of comments added to the Religious Discussion Zone, the zone will be undergoing some reorganization; some existing sections may have their scope altered, and new sections may be added.

As a first step, the following changes have been made:

1. Politics and Religion, Religion in the News and Religious Personalities have been moved, and are now child boards of Religion and Society. (The status of the Sexuality board, with only 24 new topics since August, is under review.)
2. The Reviews board has been moved to the Community Zone, in order to better reflect its nature as a non-confrontational section in which to post information of general interest to the community.
3. A new, experimental Evolution/Creationism board has been created, as a child board of Science, and prepopulated with threads from GRD in this subject area.

Other candidates for new boards, based on the number of topics and posts on these subject areas currently in GRD, include:
  • Philosophy
  • Existence of God
  • Sacred text criticism
  • Atheism and agnosticism (or Non-belief)
Feedback on (proposed and implemented) changes is welcome in the Suggestions & Feedback section.

Changes to the Community Zone
« Reply #1 on: April 15, 2009, 12:49:41 PM »
Hi,

I've made some further changes today, this time to the Community Zone, in order to make the boards there more relevant.

1. General Discussion and Chatter have been merged, and the new board is named 'Chatter'. This is to end the confusion that was inevitably caused by the nomenclature of General Discussion and General Religious Discussion, and to reflect the more relaxed and general nature of discussion in that board.
2. A new Support board has been created for forum members seeking help and advice from the forum community. A board FAQ will be published in due course.
3. The Local Communities board has been renamed Groups, Events and Activism, and has had its remit widened. A new board FAQ will be published in due course.
