Eliminate karma for PMs
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:09:01 AM »
I don't see any purpose to this, since it makes it possible to discern some of the content of a PM via interpreting the message (more to the point, unilaterally and automatically) and it certainly makes it clear that individuals are corresponding.  Since karma is public while PMs are private, it tends to help defeat the purpose of having private messages to begin with.

I'll second this motion.

I looked.  I do not believe it can be done with this version of SMF.

Perhaps if the kindly Mr Brain were to upgrade the software... No, no!  We musn't dwell on what can never be!  It cannot be done, and that must be sufficient.  We must accustom ourselves to either having karma or none.

What's true is already so. Owning up to it does not make it worse.

None suits me fine.  I wouldn't miss it at all.

Doing that requires editing of the PM page template, to which the forum admins do not currently have access.
