So, what do you call them?
My names are many, yet I am One.

I'm not sure I really call them anything when I'm just reading them in my head. If I was actually referring to them, it would probably vary. I'd probably say "smite" over "-1" (negative or minus), but would probably say either "Darwin" or "plus one" interchangeably.

I call them "plus ones" and "minus ones". I voted for the top choice on the list, even though, as Jynnan Tonnix brought to my attention, people who say "positive ones" and "negative ones" could also vote for the top choice on the list.
Enough with your bullshit.
. . . Mr. Friday . . . that post really is golden.

Usually I call the pluses "Darwins" (occasionally "karma") and the negatives "smites".

Although I will admit, every time I see a new +1 by my name, I do sing, "I got a Darwin, I got a Darwin" gleefully in my head.

Pathetic, just how happy it makes me. ;D

Awwww...thanks so much for those Darwins :) Yes, I am grinning like an idiot over them! No more, though! I much prefer getting them for things I said which might have actually been particularly apt or thoughtful. Rare as that might be. I really want to be NoGodsForMe , Kcrady or such like when I grow up.

I am not fishing for Darwins but I admit to being pleased by positives and generally annoyed by negatives, especially if they seem facetious and are for an old post.
It doesn't make sense to let go of something you've had for so long.  But it also doesn't make sense to hold on when there's actually nothing there.

The software calls them applaud/smite, but I always call them +1/-1.

I call them "positive and negative karma," but when using +1 or -1 as a verb I would "give someone a {plus | minus}-one.

And what does the software call Mr. Blackwell?

It isn't true that non-existent gods can't do anything. For instance, they were able to make me into an atheist.

Depends on which database field you look in.  Most commonly used is id_member, which for you on this forum is 2851.
