Live Oak —The residence at 531 North Houston Ave. in Live Oak has grabbed the attention of passerby with a 12 plus feet tall Santa Claus standing in the front yard. The homeowners, Jack and Mary Jeanne Williams, said this Santa is sending a message.“Santa draws attention to the fact that Jesus is the reason for the season,” Mary said. Standing alongside Santa are four little signs with a big message, two of which says, “Jesus is the reason for the season,” and “Keep Christ in Christmas.” “I got tired of seeing Merry Christmas taken out,” Jack said. “I was raised with ‘Merry Christmas’ and Jesus being the reason for the season.”Mary said the giant Santa has gotten the attention of lots of people.“One day when we had the Santa down, a lady who was passing by stopped to tell me her kid cried because Santa was not standing. I had to assure him he would be back up,” she said, laughing. “The kids enjoy it.”Both Jack and Mary are involved in the local community. Jack is a retired Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. Both Jack and Mary, a beautician, are owners of the local shop, Reflections. The couple has resided in their present home for over 30 years. They both attend Friendship Baptist Church and were saved many years ago. “We’re both saved, and this is our way to celebrate Jesus’ birthday,” Jack said- See more at: http://www.suwanneedemocrat.com/suwannee/x1353069076/Santa-standing-tall-for-Christ#sthash.bldNBB9O.dpuf
I don't presuppose a god. I presuppose a delusion of something that doesn't exist based off the lack of evidence for it.-Nam
I find it funny while, yes, the Santa Claus is huge the signs mentioning Jesus are tiny. And, I don't believe any child is reading the signs when there's a huge Santa Claus to look at.And, this is how they celebrate Jesus' birthday with a GIANT SANTA!I just find the whole story funny. How, and what "war"? The only one who participates in the war are them. They started it, and throw snowballs at each other.-Nam
Sounds like this guy is well aware of what the real focus of Christmas is, but just can't say it out loud. Why doesn't he have a 12'+ Jesus instead of Santa, if he thinks "Jesus is the reason"?
If "Jesus" was the "reason" for the "season", then, Santa wouldn't even be there, period. A nativity scene, or as stated: Jesus, etc., that's why it's funny.-Nam
