Archimedes And Friends
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:40:24 PM »
What if Archimedes, Conon, and Eratosthenes decided to collaborate on the creation of a lengthy religious text?

What if they all carefully proofread each other's contributions to said text? Let's say that this collection of religious writings contained absolutely no contradictions whatsoever. Let's pretend that any moral teachings contained in these writings were compatible with the most popular 21st-century Western opinions. Let's also add that these writings contained revolutionary mathematical theorems that were unheard of until the creation of these writings. Then, let's say that these three men claimed that they received all of their information from Zeus, who was using them as agents to reveal His wisdom to the people of the world, so that they may learn. Then, let's pretend that the religion that they created became the overwhelmingly most popular religion in the world from ancient times up until nowadays.

The greatest skeptic minds of today would still be correct in coming to the conclusion that these three men made this wonderful work all by themselves, and Zeus is just an imaginary god invented by Man. Even though the believers of this religion would have more solid ground to stand on than Christians do when defending their religious text as "God-given", many skeptics would still be frustrated that these believers won't even entertain the possibility that their text had nothing to do with Zeus.

But no, in our current real-life circumstance, we are surrounded by a bunch of idiots who believe in Judeo-Christian hogwash.

Having said that, I am thankful that we have the Bible instead, because it is much easier to poke holes into than an awesome collection of super-wise writings would be.
Enough with your bullshit.
. . . Mr. Friday . . . that post really is golden.
