Hello from the PNW
« on: November 10, 2013, 05:35:37 PM »
As some of you may have gathered, I'm a strong atheist and, while not an anti-theist, I tend to reject anything religious due to the simple fact that it's utterly ridiculous for the most part.

I'm not a scientist, or a philosopher, rather a layman, however I love to read articles and educate myself on many topics. If I don't know a subject I tend to spend hours or even days, trying to learn as much as I can after I've been introduced to it, this is probably one of the main reasons I personally can't claim I've ever been religious, even though I was brought up in a home with a Southern Baptist mother (interestingly she isn't racist)
According to Cpt. Obvious: Theists think they know God, Atheists require evidence.

Do not assume I was religious in any way, I have never been religious.

Yeah, I do too, I pretty much use on every forum I frequent, so if you go somewhere and see a user named Antidote with that avatar it's probably me.

Welcome Antidote.
I spent days (probably weeks) reading the threads here before signing up.
Certainly a lot of great knowledge in here.

Welcome Antidote.

Always glad to see a hardnosed skeptic.

I got here just a few hours before you so it's legal, barely, for me to welcome you :)

I'm originally from the PNW (Oregon) but I live in MT now. But I still long for lots of rain and mildewed hair. Well, what I long for is hair, but we won't go into that.

Enjoy your stay. You should be able to find plenty to yell about. We'll get a new fundy any day now.

Hello and welcome Antidote,

PNW? Papua New ... Wales? Is that, like, the section of Caernarfon with all the exotic restaurants? ;)

Welcome Antidote.

Good to see someone else who has never believed.

Yeah, I never bought into it, sure I went to church, and bowed my head. But I always did it begrudgingly and with an eye roll.
