Why the US postal service doesn't deliver on Sundays
« on: October 08, 2013, 07:48:01 PM »
I've meant to post this before and I'm not sure how well known this is, but did anyone know that the post office used to help keep people out of church?  Post offices were open seven days a week, but church leaders saw that the attendances declined due to the post offices doubling as the local hang out spot.  God wasn't able to compete with the mail for a while.

Plus, the Christians threatened to stone them to death for working on the Sabbath.

Deterrents.

The first article I posted said that initially no one raised the issue of working on the Sabbath.  It wasn't until the churches saw their numbers decrease did they start to make complaints.
