Your "Proving That The Bible Is Repulsive" video [#2761]
« on: September 29, 2013, 01:48:42 AM »
Hello. About your video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vkXOwBIRX7Y

And I'm not trying to be rude, or say my beliefs are superior to yours, so this won't turn into cussing and name calling, but the ten commandments don't mean the things in that video; not in that way.

What part of "must be put to death" is difficult to interpret?
An Omnipowerful God needed to sacrifice himself to himself (but only for a long weekend) in order to avert his own wrath against his own creations who he made in a manner knowing that they weren't going to live up to his standards.

And you should feel guilty for this. Give me money.

The Ten Commandments are not just Ten and whose commandments are they?

By the way, the Ten Commandments are meaningless since there is no god.

The author of the video no longer participates in these discussions, but you are welcome to join the forum and help us understand what the Ten Commandments actually mean.  Keep in mind though, that the site is generally atheists who no longer believe there is a god or gods.

Should we really extend an offer to join the forum if going to "cussing (sic) and name calling" is their default position?

Huh?  :? We can't leave that just floating there all unsupported - so what exactly do they mean?

Then... what do they mean?  I mean some of them like "thou shalt not kill" and "thou shalt not steal" are pretty cut-and-dry.

You'd think so, but you're wrong. Theists can twist even the simplest of sentences to suit their own SPAG.

Anyway, Mr./Ms./Mrs. #2761, there's a very simple way to prove the Bible is repulsive: just read it. And I mean all of it; not just the bits you hear about in church. After you do that, the next step is finding who/what to worship is simple. You can choose the almighty jug of milk, which will answer any and all prayers with either "yes", "no", or "wait", or you can worship Me. I do something no other god in existence did, does, or will do: I will interact with you (during specific hours of the day). That said, I do answer most prayers with "no". It's a trade-off you might want to consider.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?
We choose our own gods.

I can say with full confidence I have obeyed the command not to boil a goat in its mother's milk.  Were it not for that commandment, well... I don't know what I would have done - maybe gone off all crazy boiling goats in milk like a madman.  Or, YHWH forbid, I might have looked for a sneaky exception, like boiling it in cow's milk (because everyone knows how great an idea boiling milk is).

No.  Many people have a hard time with conjugating smite.  Not trying to give anyone a hard time.  Just trying to help you become a more literate person.

Please don't confuse my smites for your bad posts as me having a grudge against you.  They were simply feedback for you to hopefully improve.
