Introduction to Doubt
« on: July 25, 2013, 08:01:15 PM »
Hi everyone,

Middle-aged, gay, vegan, southern, existentially obsessed fella here -- in the process of leaving behind 20+ years of quasi-spiritual agnosticism.  I abandoned Christian mythology long ago, but losing the underlying faith in a purposefully designed reality has been more of a difficult transition than I imagined.  I guess I'm here to commiserate to some extent.  In many ways I think my life and my worldview would be in a much better place if I had been raised without religion.  Ah well, it could have been much (much) worse.

Glad to be here and look forward to soaking in the goings-on and contributing where I can.

You're overqualified, but welcome.

The trouble is, now I know more about you than I do about me. But I'll get over it.

Don't take me seriously. Except for the welcome part. ;D

Not everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They're all entitled to mine though.

a warm welcome to doubt.

I think I would uave been better off born without the religious albatrossas well. I shed it recently in full and have been a happier lad.

Enjoy your time here and I look forward to hearing what you have  to say.

Welcome to the forum, Doubt.

Thanks everyone.   8)

Nick, I found the forum via godisimaginary.com ... interesting stuff.  I also recommend the 500 Questions about God & Christianity blog -- even though they've only posted 47 questions so far.  These sites have helped me realize that I never really took my skepticism to its logical conclusions.  Working through layers of programming is a never-ending task!

Spit, I'll be happy to help you with that muscle car!  Vroom!

Welcome to the forum.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

Welcome to the forum doubt.  I'm gay too.  Still spiritual though.  Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks folks!

Junebug, pleased to meet you.  This is why I perhaps overshare a bit on forums... you never know when you'll find things in common with other board members beyond the immediate topic at hand.   :)
