Wow. That was really shocking to me. I am trying to imagine what type of personality would be drawn to this sort of behavior. I mean, folks who were emotionally abused by their fathers as children, but miss dear old dad since he passed away? Folks who have a boss who treats them like that, and who miss it on weekends. I mean, are their folks who really, deep down, believe that they are worthless, and seek out someone to tell them that they are worthless just to prove their point?
I don't know. There are so many ways to worship the god of Abraham.
Personally, I prefer to watch Joel Osteen on Sunday mornings from time to time. He has a nice god, who micromanages all of our lives, and hides little easter egg events and opportunities for all of us to get what we want in life. Mostly to get rich. His god is always sitting around waiting to see if we respond appropriately to the various situations that god sets up for us, and if he likes what we do, he provides monetary rewards. When asked about homosexuality, Osteen sighs and says that we are all sinners, and that he doesn't think that homosexuality is any worse than anything else, and that god loves us. Pretty much anything we do is A-OK with god. But those of us who really impress the big guy get big houses and gas-guzzling cars.
I can almost get it. I mean, Pastor Osteen is easy on the eyes, charismatic, and full of lots of positive reinforcement. Who doesn't want to be told how special we are?
But this nasty pastor? I don't get it . On any level.
