  • Faith is not a virtue!
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

Bad ass.
Actually it doesn't. One could conceivably be all-powerful but not exceptionally intelligent.

I would love to go, even if it killed me. (Keep in mind that I'm already old, so my bravado is almost irrelevant). I loved hiking when I was younger and would give anything to be able to walk that huge canyon on Mars from end to end. It is 2500 miles long, and 6 miles deep in places. It must be incredible.

I'd have to carry a lot of trail food. But it would weigh less! Hooray!

EDIT: Forgot. Thanks for the link, mrbiscoop!
It isn't true that non-existent gods can't do anything. For instance, they were able to make me into an atheist.

Yep. looks great and would be marvellous to visit.  I'm not sure my wheelchair would work that well on Mars but I would love to go anyway!
No testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such that its falshood would be more miraculous than the facts it endeavours to establish. (David Hume)

Oh, sometimes I think I have already been.

If you have not yet read the Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars books by Kim Stanley Robinson, I cannot recommend them more enthusiastically.  Truly one of my favorite series of all time.  I sometimes find myself musing over some of the social/political/environmental debates and conflicts that take place in these books, as if they were in fact historical events.

Would be interested in hearing from the scientists out there about whether or not the science imagined two decades ago dates the books.  I'm guessing, not too much.

That picture looks like something sexual.[1]

 1. Yes, I'm a pervert: what's your point?
Things I've said here:

I only have a filter for people who do not consistently beg to be belittled, ridiculed, insulted, and demeaned.

I may believe people, as a whole, should be treated fairly but I also believe those same people are idiots.
