I think he was definitely foolish in this instance.
But I greatly admire his passion for what he believes, and from what I have seen of his stuff (not that much), he is definitely motivated by love and not hate.
Mr Comfort is one of the great weapons that atheists possess in their armoury. When arguments become stale, when critical thinking does not seem to be effective against believers, you can rely on Mr Comfort (is that his real name?) to come up with something that is totally off the wall and reinvigorate the debate with a comment that reveals his deep ignorance.
Somewhere back there, there is the post that shows Mr COmfort threatening to ban someone who mentioned the word "bibliophile" as he believed that it was a mixture of Bible and paedophile - I heard somewhere that more christians deconverted on that day than did after the episode of the banana.
I would encourage everyone to send a dollar enclosed with some lunatic idea and suggest to him that he speak on it. We need more atheists.
