Ray Comfort: Slugs are not animals
« on: May 06, 2013, 12:23:03 PM »
This has to be seen to be believed.

I knew Comfort was an idiot, but this is another level of stupidity right here.
Being a Christian, I've made my decision. That decision offers no compromise; therefore, I'm closed to anything else.

Yeah, it's somewhere between stupid and really stupid.  When Christians are posting to say that they're disappointed with him, you know it's really bad.

First bananas, now slugs.  (Was he also the guy who did the peanut butter?  Might have been someone else, don't remember for sure.)  Damn, what a dunce.

The peanut butter argument was done by Chuck Missler, who did it as part of some pro-creationists "documentary" that denounces evolution as a "fairy tale".  (I do not know its name anything about it beyond that one part)

At any rate, it's cetainly on the same wavelenght as the banana argument.

You have to ask yourself, "Did Noah have slugs on the ark?"  If not, then they are not animals. ;)
Yo, put that in your pipe and smoke it.  Quit ragging on my Lord.

It isn't that much of a surprise. In Oregon, where I grew up, we have "banana slugs", so named because they are big and sort of yellow. They are just big slugs, but that's what we call them.

I'll write Ray and tell him how nicely they fit in the hand. Almost like they were designed for humans to hold...    ;D
Not everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They're all entitled to mine though.

Just a fucking moron. That's all I can say.
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.

The only conclusion I can draw from that?  Ray Comfort secretly had brain surgery and never told anyone.

Given his history of bananas and crocoducks, I'd guess that he secretly didn't.

I'm pretty sure they removed his skepticism.

I listened to Ray discuss his religion for an hour on YouTube with a couple of atheists and though I didn't agree with 99.9% of the things he said I still found him likable. Kirk Cameron's a douche, though.

This thread is about lab-grown dicks, not some mincy, old, British poof of an actor.

Let's get back on topic, please.

I think he was definitely foolish in this instance.

But I greatly admire his passion for what he believes, and from what I have seen of his stuff (not that much), he is definitely motivated by love and not hate.

magic  honestly bloke this guy lies. He may consider err and distortion for god a good thing, but it is not a loving trait. It is the ultimate in personal arrogance to "know" he is so right, that any amount of wrongs are acceptable, and damn anyone else's reality.

Mr Comfort is one of the great weapons that atheists possess in their armoury. When arguments become stale, when critical thinking does not seem to be effective against believers, you can rely on Mr Comfort (is that his real name?) to come up with something that is totally off the wall and reinvigorate the debate with a comment that reveals his deep ignorance.

Somewhere back there, there is the post that shows Mr COmfort threatening to ban someone who mentioned the word "bibliophile" as he believed that it was a mixture of Bible and paedophile - I heard somewhere that more christians deconverted on that day than did after the episode of the banana.

I would encourage everyone to send a dollar enclosed with some lunatic idea and suggest to him that he speak on it. We need more atheists.

Nobody says “There are many things that we thought were natural processes, but now know that a god did them.”

Let me get this right...Slugs aren't animals and weren't on the ark...
This would imply that they are in fact very good swimmers having survived the flood...

And here's me fishing them off the bottom my pond and throwing them in the bin when they were probably having a lovely time...

I'm an awful human being :-\

Interesting that he knows "Phylum Mollusca", but neglects to mention the Kingdom Animalia .

Seriously Miles, this guy has no redeeming qualities... you're better than that.  Passionate or not, he is a dishonest (or dumbest human on the planet) charlatan.
