.......obviously fulfilling all the requirements needed to generate a "mysterious ways" dodge.

One thing I hate about the god invention, and the "it's god's plan" lie, is the brutal position in which already afflicted and extremely unlucky humans are placed.

Firstly if they buy into the idiocy, they are immediately forced to acknowledge that this horror they are living is deliberate, and specifically targeting them.

Secondly, any stylish stoicism or strength of character they may exhibit in just getting on with life while so sorely afflicted is misattributed  to (stolen by) the supposed miraculous blessings of a non-existant god.
