I was most disappointed to watch a program about Apollo 13 and there was Gene Cernan (not sure if that spelling is right) declaring the wonder he felt when looking at the Earth from space. Here we had a scientist saying he felt that there was a creator above all human gods who must have made the Earth. He said he did not mean it in a religious sense but a spiritual one. So now we have a persona beyond all human gods?
People are 'erroneously confident' in their knowledge and underestimate the odds that their information or beliefs will be proved wrong. They tend to seek additional information in ways that confirm what they already believe.

people get stupid trying to express awe and wonder at the universe.  To say there is an uber-god creator, but only in a spiritual sense, not a religious one, makes absolutely no sense.  Sounds like an old man fumbling for words or attempting to sound wise.  What's the term for that?  Deepity?  I don't think it is even deepity.

What's true is already so. Owning up to it does not make it worse.

"When we landed on the moon, that was the point where god should have come up and said 'hello'. Because if you invent some creatures, put them on the blue one and they make it to the grey one, you f**king turn up and say 'well done'."
