It's not just not scientific.  It is outright stupid.

and you should not make promises like that, especially to your wife.

My husband is a Christian and there are just some things we don't argue about. Sometimes we have to pick our battles. Like, our teen daughter will be getting the HPV shot. Case closed, end of discussion. But if my husband asks me to go to a service and be respectful, I will.

I go to church with my wife occasionally and the people there are really nice - I even go to help out at church functions. Most of my her friends know I'm an atheist, but always make me welcome (probably trying to convert me!). I would never say anything disrespectful or argue about religion unless I was directly asked a question. I'm on friendly terms with the vicar (luckily, he's a fellow Liverpool fan, so we usually just discuss football).
