Buddist to the recue
« on: January 22, 2013, 11:14:46 AM »
To help deal with the growing problem of military suicides and violent behavior from returning troops the military is going to try incorporating Buddest techniques to help them learn how to deal with stress.  I can't wait for the "right" to get ahold of this and go wild.  Jesus is all they need.
Yo, put that in your pipe and smoke it.  Quit ragging on my Lord.

Cool. I have a friend who's studying to be a Buddhist chaplain. This would be right up her alley. A gentler, kinder person would be hard to find. Her Buddhism makes Christianity look like troglodytes baying at the moon.

ETA: Do you have a pointer to an article? I found several that are planning to use mindfulness techniques to improve combat soldiers at war (she definitely could NOT get behind that!) and a few that talk about yoga and TM and such for soldiers returning home. Would love to send her more specific information.

If we ever travel thousands of light years to a planet inhabited by intelligent life, let's just make patterns in their crops and leave.

I think I read it on MSNBC but can't remember for sure.  Can't find it now.
