As you may know, lately we are innundated with spammers.  The staff is doing their best to fend them off, but we are outgunned and cannot keep them out altogether.

We suspect the spammers are here to harvest your email accounts.  They do this by looking at your profile or by clicking your email icon.  They add your email to a list which they sell to marketers who then send you ads for shoes, viagra, penis enlargement supplements, weight loss pills, etc.  Or worse, they send malicious softaware that can do things like steal your passwords, send out email, raid your private files, etc.  All bad stuff you don't want to have happen.

You can prevent this by changing your profile settings.  There is a check box that says "Allow users to email me".  Make sure it is unchecked.

We strongly recommend you do this.  If you have questions, PM one of the staff and we will help you.

What's true is already so. Owning up to it does not make it worse.
