Apparently some people finally figure it out...
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:15:04 AM »
Believers may not always listen to us, but sometimes they listen to themselves.

If the rest of you religious types could learn from this we atheists would be much happier. As would you.

Brilliant!
No testimony is sufficient to establish a miracle, unless the testimony be of such that its falshood would be more miraculous than the facts it endeavours to establish. (David Hume)

That's awesome!!!
If we ever travel thousands of light years to a planet inhabited by intelligent life, let's just make patterns in their crops and leave.

Well there always seems to be a good reason why god doesn't answer prayers.
The whole point of science is that most of it is uncertain. That's why science is exciting--because we don't know. Science is all about things we don't understand. The public, of course, imagines science is just a set of facts. But it's not.  Freeman Dyson

It's funny how the "Holy Land" is the place most notable in the world for endless violence, racism, oppression, all out war, poverty, poor living conditions, and widespread ignorance. I think that it is one of the most convincing pieces of evidence that not only is religion man made, it's bad for us.
Seriously though... What would happen if the Great Green Arkleseizure didn't fram up the rammastam before the hermite curve achieved maximum nurdfurdle velocity? Now THAT would be something. AmIrite?

Its hard to take this kind of thing seriously, because its exactly the same kind of parable that Christians use to show just how misguided those are that question their faith. Same setup, same pacing, same punchline delivery, just reversed.

It's funny, because it's true. . . but it's not funny, because it's fake.

That was hilarious. Is that true? It'd be funnier if it was

Sadly, I'm a sucker. A quick google search today showed this to be a joke, not real. Bagheera had it right.

Still funny though. And probably almost true, if only a few wall-praying Jews would come to their senses.

Yeah. We're only slightly more resistant to confirmation bias than theists are.

Sigh.

This is why I try to examine anything that too closely resembles what I believe, because its too easy to accept it as fact on face value.

This is probably the biggest benefit I have gained from this forum.  I question everything now.  I check facts.  It used to be... not so much.

What's true is already so. Owning up to it does not make it worse.

A little voice in my head told me to check when i wrote the OP. I ignored it.

Right now it is telling me to eat ice cream. I can tell it is time to start listening...

Edit: fixed a bad edit of a poor edit of a sad edit of an unedited edit.
