My impression is that it's a particularly subtly-played Poe. Artfully done, actually. Especially the preacher's wife who plays the epitome of the "I used to be cute, and I love to dance, but these days this is the most I'll ever get away with doing, so I have to make each millimeter count" repressed Christian.

I can't see it as real, but if it is, it's sad on SO many levels.

That's my take on it too  ;)

Especially with shows like Tim and Eric's (etc) being so popular, the ironic humor is almost palpable. Which makes it all the more brilliant  ;D
