What, you mean as in a telescope? Or as in a laser?

I've collimated my telescope, a reflector, but that is somewhat easier[1]  by the look of it, as there is a collimation eyepiece available and lots of wing nuts to twiddle easily. Good luck with the binoculars.
 1. I say it was easier but it must have taken me a couple of hours

A couple of hours for something that is easier?

I think I shall buy new binoculars instead. Maybe give the bad pair to the kid for physics class.

Besides, I think the mounts are broken and I may find myself constantly re-collimating.

Probably a wise move - I once took a pair of binoculars to pieces - they were never the same again. : (
