Remember me? I'm baaaaack!...
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:06:17 AM »
...at least for the moment.  If you don't remember me, it's okay, it's been a while.  If you do remember me, you probably see me on Facebook and other more mundane venues.

I first found this forum (well, the old and currently retired version) on Tax Day 5 1/2 years ago, and I had no idea what kind of a wild ride I was in for.  The upheavals haven't yet stopped, either; I now live a thousand miles from my former home in Missouri and have rebooted my life on most levels.  And I'm about to commemorate this journey by doing the most rational thing I can think to do...

Writing a musical.

Yes, I'm writing a musical set in the new skeptics movement.  I would say "about" the movement, but the story is really more about someone who is on the perimeter and can't seem to find a more centered place, like, well, me.  I'm really just wanting to tell a story and I don't care to promote agendas, so it will be heavy on character development and light on fact and rigorous argument.  The closest thing I can promise is a character who is annoyed that the other character is light on fact and rigorous argument.  I will not let my play be determined by fact-checkers.   ;D

Other than that, how's everyone doing?  I'm doing some decent work these days and will be performing my one-bear show in Nashville in a couple of weeks.  Talk to me... if you remember me, that is.    :)

Hei, Onesimus!  How could I forget a nice bear like you?

Definitely go for the character development over hard facts if you're writing a musical.  You might want to consider a flock of soundbite-enabled lunatics (all with their own special types of lunacy), plus a straight man to stare at them and go "WTF?" occasionally.  And if you ever need someone to play-test a melody or two for the musical, just give Me a shout.

I remember you. Welcome back.

You're not like, you know, a prodigal son or anything, are you? Returning and stuff?

I'll send you five bucks if you can get include "ParkingPlaces" in your lyrics.

Or I'll sue you for copyright violation. I forget which.

In any case, welcome back.

That's fine as long as there is no lying. God will send your bear carcass straight to hell for that.. ;D

I've always wondered how to pronounce your screen name.

It's pronounced Hal as in Hallelujah or halitosis.

If you leave us again, we will send a group of children to tear you apart.
Extraordinary claims of the bible don't even have ordinary evidence.

Kids aren't paying attention most of the time in science classes so it seems silly to get worked up over ID being taught in schools.

Who?

No one important.   ;)

Brakeman, I prefer oh NEE simus, but I don't know if that's consensus or not.

Nogods, I've already been torn apart by children.  I fear nothing.   ;D

As for everyone wanting to know just what I'm doing, I'm sure I'll be talking about it in the weeks to come.  I'm trying to meet a November deadline which will rely heavily on me having a first draft ready to show a producer.

It's an Asgard.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asgard_(Stargate)

Quote
The Asgard are a highly advanced, fictional extraterrestrial race in the science fiction series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. They are first mentioned in the episode "Thor's Hammer", and first seen in "Thor's Chariot". In the series, the Asgard gave rise to Norse mythology on Earth, as well as accounts of the Roswell "Greys". Due to their technological prowess, the Asgard are critical allies in Earth's fight against the Goa'uld, and later the Ori. The Asgard characters on the show are realized through a combination of puppets and computer-generated imagery.

It's "Levi-OH-sah," not "Levi-oh-SAH."  Otherwise the spell doesn't work.  Welcome back, Ony!  Sorry I didn't respond earlier.  By the time I got your PM the Forum had gone into repair mode, and I only recently caught it up and running again.

Damnit KCrady, you missed Shin! I think you would have enjoyed him. Then again, he might've been a waste of time because he was so clueless.

I edit a lot of my posts. The reason being it to add content or to correct grammar/wording. All edits to remove wording get a strike through through the wording.

Oh, I might have paid money to see kcrady tear shin a new one.  ;D

I pronounced Ony's name like jetson suggested. won-zee-mus. I like all the other pronunciations better.
