The Easter Bunny is a MONSTER!
« on: October 04, 2012, 03:26:07 PM »
I just wanted to reach out and see if I could get some of the secular community to spread the word about a critical thinking book I'm writing for children. It's called The Easter Bunny is a MONSTER!, and it's running as a campaign on Kickstarter.

The Project

I'm not here looking for money from the forum members, but if you are interested in broadcasting the project to your network of friends, I'd much appreciate it! There are a lot of books for children that teach not being afraid, but few that teach being objective and in control of one's imagination/perceptions.

Anyway, thanks!

This sounds like a really cool book. My daughter could really use something like this and she loves to read. Money is tight and I can't pledge but I will definitely check out buying it once it hits the market. Just remind me cause I will forget.

What age group is this written for?
Thank you for considering my point of view; however wrong it may be to you.

Thanks for the good thoughts!

Don't forget, with Kickstarter, you aren't charged until (and unless) the goal is met. So you can pledge now and change it at any time. In fact, you can even pledge just a dollar (which actually helps more than you might realize), and then bump it up if finances allow it later. But a $1 pledge would at least get you set up to get all of the project updates.

I wrote this book when my oldest son was about 5 years old. There are some revisions to do, but I'd say it would be primarily suited to any children who have a basic understanding of what an imagination is.  My oldest son is about eight now, and he still likes the story. So...ages four to eight? Maybe even a little older. I think it will really just depend on the child. Even some adults might find it useful!

I have to admit.. I love your art work! I wouldn't mind being a $500 donor for all the perks! I think you are going to do really well.

I've actually updated this project. Now, the first 50 backers, regardless of their donation amount, get the iPad app for FREE. So there's another great reason to share the link with your friends!

Sweet! Thanks! If the project comes out with enough extra cash for an Android version, I'll send you that one, assuming you might have, or will have, a Kindle Fire.

(Note that the iPad version will also work on iPhone.)

I like the idea that the tooth fairy is really an old toothless hag. If your mouth is open when she comes into your room for the tooth under your pillow, she will pull all your teeth out of your head. The only way to be sure she doesn't catch you sleeping with your mouth open is to stay up all night.

Why stop with the Easter Bunny? You could make all the kiddie fairy tales monstrous.

I would love to not stop with the Easter Bunny, but I have to get started first. That's why I need to spread the word!

No iphone for me. The only "i" I have is "itunes" and that's only because it snuck it's way on to my PC with out my knowledge. But no worries if I have more funds later on I will pledge more support so I can get a copy.

Why stop with the Easter Bunny? You could make all the kiddie fairy tales monstrous.

I agree! A series would be awesome!

No worries. I appreciate a dollar as much as I appreciate a hundred dollars. Just hearing good thoughts and positive response goes a long way toward moving the project forward.

Just donated a dollar for the project. Money is very tight for me. Good luck with it. Sounds like a great idea.

EDIT: And thank you for the introducing me to that website. I'd never heard of kickstarter.com before, but it's a great site.

I edit a lot of my posts. The reason being it to add content or to correct grammar/wording. All edits to remove wording get a strike through through the wording.

Emily, thank you so much! When I say that every dollar is appreciated, I mean it. That's why, as one of the first 50 backers, your pledge comes with the free iPad app!
