Would you consider this "nude"?

I ran across a picture of a woman on the interwebs today, which made me look twice - well three times ... OK four times. When I saw her, I thought - wow - that's a tight fitting outfit she's wearing - really tight. Upon further examination  I realized that what I was looking at was an airbrushed "outfit" on bare skin via some type of skin-safe paint.

Would you consider the woman nude - or not nude - in this situation?

I would post links but that would be a violation of the rules.  I would furnish the link via PM only - only, upon an Admin approving of this in the thread, since it's soft porn. Otherwise use your imagination and tell me if you would consider the woman with an airbrushed-on-skin outfit to be nude or not.

As is the case with many things, there are significant grey areas when it comes to peoples' opinions of something being nude or not.

If I have to choose "nude" or "not nude", I would say that what you described is "nude". If I saw this person and wanted to describe this person to someone, it would be normal for me to say, "It was a nude person that was covered in paint." It would be abnormal for me to describe a clothed person as, "It was a nude person who was wearing underwear, jeans, socks, shoes, and a T-shirt."

At first that's not what I wanted to say. It's a wild pic. But you look at it and think - that woman is wearing a thin, thin outfit - no, wow it's just ... paint! See, it fooled me at first because I didn't think nude, I thought thin material.

But if it's paint, then it's not clothing - or is it? What is clothing but a covering of the body? OK, then she's not nude, but ... eh, everything else shows.

Yes. I would consider it nude, particularly if, one made physical contact.

I've received pictures of these types of "painted nudes" from people who usually send me stuff like jokes, prayer-miracle-nonsense-shit, and cool things that I have never seen before. I had to look a few times and say, "Shit, it's hard to tell that it's some kind of paint!"

I was under the impression that you were doing some sort of casual survey, so I was giving my two cents to draw from.

I brought in the idea of only two choices to help me draw some lines because it is a tough one to think about.

Can I come up with a scenario where I would refer to your painted nude person as something other than nude? Let me explore my thoughts:

First of all, I would never describe your painted nude person to someone who has never seen one as simply "nude". It is just too bizarre for me not to mention the paint.

If we were stuck on an island with only totally nude people and painted nude people, I could see myself eventually referring to the totally nude as "nude" and the painted nude as "painted".

If we were stuck on an island with only painted nude people and clothed people, I could see myself eventually referring to the painted nude people as simply "nude", but I would never describe them as simply "nude".

Like I said, there are some significantly gray areas.

I agree. I honestly don't know how to consider it. I really don't.

If you looked at her just from across the street, you would probably not even think she was nude. It's a gray area for sure. I wish an Admin would tell me I could PM the link - or not.

LOL! The Admin is probably struggling, as we type, with his inner gray areas on whether to allow it or not because he can't decide whether it can be considered "nude" or not!

Clothes used to be their for added protection against the weather in addition to shelter. Nowadays it just there to emphasize the parts of you that look good and de-emphasize the parts that don't

Gotta say, the whole paint thing could prolly be a decent way of being nude. In 1st world countries,  ACs and heaters are the norm and going about with nothing but paint and a coat could be a feasible way of dressing oneself. You don't loose out on the prettying effect of clothes. You could always use specific designs to cover up imperfections and point out assets(a swirl emphasizing the breasts, inward diagonals to make the waist look shapelier etc.).
