Take me, Europe! Many Americans think that President Obama is trying to turn the US into a Euro-style socialist country. A place where life, presumably, would be utter hell with lower crime rates, sensible drug policies, higher taxes on upper incomes, free college, universal health care and deep fried Mars bars. :o

We don't want that stuff because the US is perfect just as is.[1]We know that because everyone on the planet wants to move here so they, too, can be millionaires like all of us.[2]. Everyone, except strangely, people in those European hellholes. :?

I speak Spanish and French, but am willing to learn German if the US keeps trying to become a facist corporate police state. Ironic, ain't it? &)
 1. Or will be as soon as the brown-skinned guy with the Mooslim name leaves the White House.
 2. Or will be as soon as they invent a time machine and we can all go back and pick different parents with names like Romney, Hilton, Trump and Koch

I live in Düsseldorf, Cologne is not far away. You get fried chocolate bars in England where they fry everything and have no idea what cooking is about. I guess the last post was an ironic one, at least I hope so! ;)

I'll have to look into that. My family lives around the Frankfurt/Rammstein area. I mainly remember that because of the Rammstein Air Force Base being in that area. If I do end up moving there, how far away would it be for a meeting?

It was satire imo, but what actually is ironic, is that those people who seriously spout what nogodsforme said, if socialism slapped them hard in the face with it's policies, they would actually be head over heels for Socialism and the European/Canadian style of government. They are only anti-socialism because that is what they have been indoctrinated with, and I think it actually started back in the Red Scare.

I loved living in Germany.  I would have to flip a coin between going back to Frankfurt or Berlin.

I'll make it easy on you. If you are single, go to Frankfurt. If you are married or have a boyfriend, go to Berlin.  ;)  ;D

Distance between Düsseldorf and Frankfurt is about 200 km, I have no idea how many miles that is, guess 250. But as we live in the country of no-speed-limit  and have big cars with big engines it´s just a quick trip :)
 Don´t forget Munich! that´s a place to live! You have mountains, lakes, woods, Switzerland, Austria, Italy ´round the corner and the beer is incredible. Only they´re a bit religious....
