where does all the grass come from?
I have to mow the yard every few days... it just keeps growing and growing...
yet there is no apparent displacement in elevation of the yard or otherwise.
same thing with roadways...
I have to replace the tires on the car... and so do all these other cars...
where does the worn off tire material go?

Every piece of discarded or displaced matter immediately changes from matter to anti-matter, then pops out of existence in this universe, presumably becoming matter in another universe.  When grass grows, someone in an anti-matter universe has mowed their lawn, and the clippings then change to matter and pop into ours, thus adding to the length of the blades of grass in your own lawn.

Most of the material in plants (including grass) is created via photosynthesis. Hence the dirt in which it is planted does not sink away as it grows.

Tires mostly turn to dust. In the US, that is 650,000 tons of dust a year. Many believe the rise of latex allergies is related, since 25% of the tire is latex, and the dust that we breathe causes said allergies. Obviously so much dust can cause other problems too.

I'd like to blame anti-matter for something, but it looks pretty innocent to me. As long as it keeps its distance. Which is is prone to do anyway.

If you were smart, you would have asked these questions prior to the advent of the internet and google. They would have been more fun. But there just aren't many mysteries any more.

And as with the news about tires and the harm they do, sometimes the truth hurts.

My oldest asked a similar question this past weekend. She wanted to know why her skin was flaky. We explained how skin falls off daily and how slowly over time you have all new skin. She wanted to know why she's never seen this skin fall off, and where it all went. She was adamant that she's never lost any skin before. /cuteness

Think of it like that None. Slowly over time your tire sheds it's skin. You don't see it but we know it happens.

In any case, I found this article, and didn't know where to put it, so I'll stick it with the anti matter.  Here is a teaser and a link.

Sky boffins have been able to detect galactic-sized blobs of dark matter by observing light being bent by their enormous gravitational pull. The exact same star-filled galaxy, for example, can appear twice in the sky as light from it bends on either side of a dark matter formation.

What has not been observed – until now, that is – are the thin filaments of dark matter that have been thought to connect the massive dark-matter nodes, and which give the universe, both visible and invisible, its structure.
