Good info, Quesi – why could it have been anything else except oil. Amazing what deserts once had been and what they now are worth. If I understand correctly, the African people separated from the Arab people and forced into south Sudan, now end of with the more valuable oil fields, so they are forced out again by oil needs.
What is so difficult for me to accept, is how quietly the African culture goes about its business living on a piece of land, trying to be self sufficient, raising the children, singing and dancing - only to be shit on once again when someone needs what they have. Yes – education, TV, internet, cars, IPhones, high cholesterol, therapists of every kind – rural Africans are missing everything but AIDS, but I still hope someday civilization realizes what this beautiful culture has that we have lost.
