Reason prevails over Mt. Soledad cross violation
« on: June 27, 2012, 03:36:40 PM »
I didn't realize the US Supreme Court just ruled the Mt. Soledad cross unconstitutional...[1]

Quote
Congratulations and thanks to Steve Trunk, whose legal challenge of a huge cross on public property masquerading as a war memorial was vindicated today by the U.S. Supreme Court. The court let stand Trunk’s Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals victory declaring unconstitutional the 43-foot “Mt. Soledad Easter Cross” planted atop San Diego’s Mount Soledad Public Park... one of the longest-running Establishment Clause cases in U.S. history.

Anyone want to wager how long it will take to have the cross removed?
 1. Edit: the SCOTUS actually let stand a lower court ruling that the cross was unconstitutional

I can't access the link.  :(

ETA: It's the "l" in front of http that's broken it. If you simply enter the address from "www..." it works. :)

If we ever travel thousands of light years to a planet inhabited by intelligent life, let's just make patterns in their crops and leave.

Wow, wonder how that happened?  What was the vote total?  Next thing you know they will uphold Obamacare.

It's not even that it's aesthetically pleasing. It's just a big eyesore. It actually looks cheap.

I think it would have been better if it was a Tetris cross instead.
