A local radio talk show had this as a topic one day and they thought it was going to be Wonder Woman.  Only a few callers thought it would be Green Lantern.

I guessed it would be Green Lantern, and not the Hal Jordan or Kyle Rainer lanterns, but a lesser-known one. It's really just lip-service as the GL is a minor hero. Big enough to make a statement, small enough to keep conservative readers from boycotting.

Would it be too obvious is Robin came out as gay?

It would be cool if superman came out as not interested in men or women.   Being an alien, homo sapiens don't turn him on.

Have you ever read "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex", by Larry Niven?  It's a short essay about the biology of Superman's reproduction, starting with what would happen if he tried to have sex with a human woman.  It's hysterically funny, especially because Niven treats the subject so seriously.

No.  But I imagine it would be like the movie Hancock when he...ahem... puts a couple holes in the roof of his trailer.  That is also dealt with in The Dark Knight Strikes Again, when Kal El is asked by his 17 year old daughter about sex.  His reply is, "Never with humans.  They are too fragile."
