just something i've been doing.
« on: May 17, 2012, 02:07:31 AM »
i don't know if the rest of you were, but i've been looking back at the posts i've made all those years. I have made some funnyposts, some good posts that refuted some arguments, but some posts i've made that went over the line. I think it's important to look back at what we've written and reflect on what we posted.
Me:What are you looking at Eminem?
Brother: Nothing, Harry Potter.

I love to read books, just not your Bible. i support gay rights and women's rights. Why? Because i'm tired of the hate, stupidity, and your desire to control us all and make up lies.

I do that every once in a while, but I can't even remember writing some (most?) posts.

I do that often, especially lately. I'm not much liking the difference. I think you guys are turning me into something that I deeply regret.

I think the best part of this forum is that it provides a demanding and challenging environment. It's very difficult to never have posts that go over the line.

I remember one of my early posts was getting into a fight with screwtape (I believe it was him) and initiated Godwin's Law, though I can't seem to find the post, thank God. Suffice to say, I lost that argument. That's what I love about this place, you say something stupid, you're gonna know about it and you can correct yourself and move on and if you've made an ass of yourself, you apologise and generally people tend to accept it unless of course you turn out to be a slimy douchebag whereby an apology is just your way of trying to win back acceptance. ;)

I know in an early post I referred to a group of atheists as "Richard Dawkins worshippers". I didn't actually have a fond opinion of the D-man when I signed up, but I think now I understand him much better.

Sometimes it is best to write what you want to post, but delay hitting the button for a few hours. Then, re-read everything and see if it still makes sense.

At other times it may be good to just get your thoughts/words out there and learn from them afterwards. Makes more of an impact when you get smashed by others than just by your own internal checker.
