Songs that express your personality
« on: April 08, 2012, 05:38:37 PM »
These songs represent me in some ways :

(The song starts at 5:31. Before that it's just a load of blah about god)

What songs describe you?

Peace.

(By the way the youtube clips don't appear for some reason. Am I doing it wrong?)

Well, I'm just a small town girl living in a lonely world looking for a city boy born and raised in south Detriot:

It depends on the mood I'm in. But these four pretty well sum up how I feel at any given moment.

my partner and I are allowed to ignore one another in the busy distraction of individual living...

but if either of us invokes the words "Help me Jack Pepsi"   no matter what we are doing, the other instantly drops everything and comes running.
In fact just the words "Jack Pepsi" are enough for immediate response.

One night me and my friend
Jack Helton from Nampa, Idaho
Decided we was gonna take his dad’s
Brand new 4 x 4 pick up
Out for a ride on Lake Lowell.
We had a belly full of Jack Daniels
And some Pepsi, too,
And we decided
We were going for a ride!

Well we got out on that ice and started
Spinning around doing
360’s and 180’s all over the ice
Slugging down Jack Daniels
As fast as we could.
That’s when I heard the most horrible sound
I ever heard in my life!
And I knew we were
Going through the ice!

Help me Jack Pepsi!

We broke through the ice
Sunk down to the bottom
About 12 feet under.
Water starts rushing in
Through the cracks in the doors
And the windows.
I started freaking out
And Jack says “Hey man,
If you are gonna make it
Through this alive
You are gonna have to settle down
And breathe the air off the roof”
While the water rushes in!

Help me Jack Pepsi!
Help me Jack Pepsi!

Then, one having rescued the other, this song is often sung in spontaneous renewal of commitment

"I'll come running to tie your shoes"

Song that express my personality?

RADIOHEAD - CREEP  ;D

I was totally going to go looking for a good video of that, then I saw this and figured I wasn't even going to get a chance to post anything new. That song pretty much sums up the way I have felt for most of my life. It expresses the sense of just not being "right" so perfectly.

Screwtapes endorsement of Maria, in West Side, suits me well. One of my faves is Linda Ronstadt doing Wish Upon A Star. Brazil 66 and Herb Alpert grab me pretty good. I also like anything acoustic guitarist Earl Klug plays. He can knock out Malaguena in spectacular fashion but so can Carlos Montoya. Throw in a little Sousa such as Thunderer, some of the themes from ancient westerns like Bonanza, then some classical stuff such as DeBussey, and Ravels Bolero is a gasser. Musicals like My Fair Lady work pretty well as well as some of the music from Phantom of the Opera.

So alright you whippersnappers, That is old stuff.  For me, rock music ain't music it is deliberate cacaphony and a crime against nature that causes unnecessary pain in my anterior sphincter region.. No offense intended except to the three chord garage band guitarists pretending to be musicians and the offensively intrusive percussionists.  To each his own.................

Post script;  Some of you have never heard of the seriously talented musicians I mentioned above. Hey, you might even like them.  (Viola you know where I am coming from)

Actually now that I think about it, I probably fall somewhere in between the shoes video I posted and this one below.  Probably a little closer to the video below

These are some songs that I came up with to accurately describe me..

"If you find yourself reaching for the light, first realize that it has already touched your finger."
"If I were your god, I would have no reason for judgement, and you have all told endless lies about me.  Wait - you do already. I am not amused by your ignorance, thoughtlessness, and shallow mind."

Don't have a video but here are the lyrics from 10cc.

"Baron Samedi"

I'll show you man who walk on fire
And don't get burned
Don't get burned, don't get burned
He don't get burned
I'll show you man who tread on glass
And he don't get cut
Don't get cut, don't get cut
He don't get cut

You can take a knife and slit his throat
And he won't drop dead
Won't drop dead, won't drop dead
He won't drop dead
Been a ju-ju boy for a thousand years
And he ain't cut yet
Ain't cut yet, ain't cut yet
He ain't cut yet

Hold 'em
You've got to crease 'em and fold 'em
You've got to shape 'em and mould 'em
Take a piece of their soul man

Well he can take a little moonlight
Suck the poison from a snakebite
Movin' round about midnight
He's got the power of life

See the sacrifice of the virgin women
See the deadly snake and the headless chicken
Take a sip from dripping red
Make it with the living dead

Take you up when you feeling down
When you're sick he will come around
Takes his cures from out the ground
He's the one who can hypnotize
And you'll never believe your eyes
He can cause the dead to rise
