I'm a big fan of porn, but I've just come across (if you pardon the pun) this :
And this : http://www.thepinkcross.org/
And this : http://www.shelleylubben.com
And I'm shocked. I didn't realise it was like that. But I'm not against porn itself. A distinction has to be made between the hollywood / Vegas type of porn, and other types. It's like comparing hollywood movies with good, independent movies, and the same applies to the music industry. I feel bad about what I've just read but porn itself is good, if done nicely. Unfortunately often it's not.
But why do they believe that pornography is one of the most exploitative industries? I can see why these two women are so eager to make men feel guilty for watching porn and I do sympathize with them, but I'd like to ask them the following questions:
When they fly with a plane, do they feel sorry for all the airport staff members who breathe in a big amount of toxic lead, day in and day out?
When they travel on a highway, do they feel sorry for all the people who simply worked their asses in very heavy conditions for its construction?
Do they feel sorry all minors?
All these people, literally ruin their health on a daily basis, and I doubt it that they truly enjoy it. But with very little remorse, we all take advantage of the fruits of their self-sacrificing labor.
And why is that? It's because we know that someone
has to do it! We simply can't blame ourselves for every imperfection of our society. The reality we live in simply demands from us to exploit other people and submit ourselves to exploitation. The only way we could change this is to work for the improvement of our society. So far, the scientific method is the only method that is proven to be effective in achieving this. The method of prayer and the method of making people feel guilty – the methods that the two ladies on the video use – are not proven to be effective!
And for those ladies it would be hard to convince me that doing porn is a much “filthier” job than many other “regular” 21st century jobs.
Being a porn actor cannot be yuckier than working in the forensic medicine, or working in a farm.
Being a porn actor cannot be more dangerous than being a police officer, or working on a construction.
Being a porn actor cannot be more frowned upon than being a tax inspector, or a lawyer who defends ruthless criminals.
Certainly, being a porn actor is not the best profession in the world, but after all it's just a job. As long as it is legal, it's just a common 20th/21st century profession. And it it's funny how the moment I realized this, was the moment I stopped being interested in porn, because there is not much sexual excitement in watching people who simply do their job.
