It's was using too many resources on the server relative to the other customer's requirements. We're hogging the server.

Would it be possible to "fix" that by deleting old accounts and/or threads? Or is it because of (some of) the individual accounts accessing the forum all at once?

I suspect that the server was being oversold, that it had more customers on it than it should have had. This forum really isn't that much busier than it has been in the past.
