Among the guests on the Family Research Council's anti-contraception coverage webcast held last week was Walker Nickless, the Bishop of the Diocese of Sioux City, who warned that the contraception mandate was literally a plot by the Devil to undermine morality and that Christians "have to stand up and violently oppose this" in order to avoid being overtaken by Darkness

religion, always good for declaring that those who disagree with you are evil and should be "violently opposed".

What's that? Women want to have sex without getting pregnant? Shame on them! Everyone knows women are purely for breeding purposes. And making sandwiches. What we need is more Viagra for the men who work very hard to keep our population increasing, just like DA LAWD wants!
/sarcasm

Unfortunately, I'm 99% certain that this is what those retards believe.

So if 80 to 90 % of women have already been using birth control for decades what is the deal now.  Even the devil is saying WTF to this logic by this bishop.

my husband also brought up the fact that evidently doctors who work for religious institutions can and have been prescribing various kinds of birth control for *decades*.  It's only now when the religious aren't getting their way in everything and won't be getting the theocracy that they want, that they bring this up as a catastrophe.

I'm not saying that theists like this are stupid... but we really need a new word for this degree of stupidity.

What gets me is that these people are the first to complain about welfare to support people who have far more kids than they can support. Yet they rail against anything that helps people to control the amount of children they have.

Yet even on Monday, Limbaugh didn't back away from his criticism of Fluke's appearance on Capitol Hill. He questioned why she was invited testify.

"She doesn't have any expertise," Limbaugh said during the second hour of his radio show. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20120303/US.Limbaugh.Apology/?cid=hero_media

and priests like the idiot in the video do?   :o

and I agree Frank, it's seems to always be that way.

Good point V.  Logically, Christians should be protesting the doctors at these hospitals for prescribing these birth control methods.

Perhaps you could say that calling theists like this "stupid" cheapens the word too much?

A friend coined the word "stupidiot". She saw someone standing in an open darkened elevator which was clearly labeled "Out of Order" and coined the word. stupid + idiot = stupidiot.

I prefer not to use "retard" and "idiot" for people like this.  It's a grave insult to people who are actually retarded (and seriously retarded, in the case of "idiot").

What I'd like to do is coin a word that means "so lost to intelligence and the ability to think that they are incapable of recognizing them as concepts".

a good riff by Jon Stewart on Limbaugh and the GOP idiocy: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-march-5-2012/extremely-loud---incredibly-gross

complete with willfully ignorant Fox women "commentators".  and if one could distinguish sexuality from the voice, quite Catholic priest....

Jon make a good point that maternity leave is quite similar.

I will attempt to demonstrate, by visual aid, just how far to the right people like Limbaugh are now.

Code: [Select]
     |---------------|---------------|---------------|---------------|------------------------------------------------------------|
very          moderate        moderate        moderate          very                                                       Limbaugh
  liberal         liberal                      conservative    conservative

Any surprise that Limbaugh would make such comments now?

I really try to avoid this particular board because it's basically threads about the latest crackpot scheme some hick state or other has come up with to stop women getting abortions and contraceptives and it just annoys me.

Some of the sexiest, most broadminded, gorgeous women on this planet are american. Why do so many american men want to make life difficult for them instead of thanking whatever god they worship that they live in the same country as them?

What gets me is that these people are the first to complain about welfare to support people who have far more kids than they can support. Yet they rail against anything that helps people to control the amount of children they have.

The party of Big Business also happens to be the party of Big Religion, I wonder if these 3 things have anything to do with that:

(1)Religion benefits from people having more kids because the more people are around the more likely they are to be ill educated, as education resources are being spread over a greater number. Ill educated people tend to be more religious.

(2)Big Business benefit from more people because more consumers drive up the prices of the commodities they control, and the more people are competing for the same job driving down wages

(3)Big Religion benefits from low wages and expensive commodiites as people desperate and poor are more likely to be religious.

An Omnipowerful God needed to sacrifice himself to himself (but only for a long weekend) in order to avert his own wrath against his own creations who he made in a manner knowing that they weren't going to live up to his standards.

And you should feel guilty for this. Give me money.

I'm all for people taking personal responsibility for their own actions/choices...however that includes using contraceptives if they are not ready and willing to raise children.

I wonder what would happen if our government did away with the child tax credit?

Because it promotes promiscuity!

And no good xian wants their female property to be known by other men.
Actually it doesn't. One could conceivably be all-powerful but not exceptionally intelligent.

Ever heard the phrase "If I can't have you, no one will"?

If they first and foremost want women to suffer and be oppressed for their perceived promiscuity, then there is no contradiction in what you say.
