Jews of the Kaballah persuasion place great importance on the mikva, a sort of hot tub like pool where men bathe and gain better understanding of the faith. The mikva is commonly used as a communal facility where men bathe together. The "clipcock" condition gives some visual assurance that the good jews are not defiling themselves by bathing with presbyterians or other spiritual imposters.
disclaimer; I am not a jew, I just read this in a fascinating book called ; Man Seeks God. The author, a non practicing, sort of agnostic jew, is Eric Weiner. He is a professional journalist who writes with considerable humor. He could do standup already. At a recent point in his life, following a potentially fatal stay in the hospital, he felt compelled to find the right god. He had to explore the various options in order to gain enough information that would lead him to the correct or most logical god.. He lived with Sihks, with Taoists, buddhists, hassidics, Hindus, muslims of various stripe, wiccans, new agers, and most fun of all, Raelians. He learned something about all of them but never chose an exclusive god.
The wiccans allow a follower to choose any god he/she pleases and has the authority to fire a god and choose another if they so desire. The Raelians believe that they were created by aliens called the Elohim, but the aliens are not gods, merely creators. None of the religions that Weiner lived with, except the jews, were required to cut off part of a male childs winky.
