Einstein was born a jew but he never considered himself religious. He may or may not have been an atheist.
Bill Gates is smart and he's an atheist.
Steve Jobs was smart and he was an atheist.
Richard Fynman won a nobel prize and he was an atheist.
Linus Pauling won TWO nobel prizes and he was an atheist.
Kathryn Hepburn was a good actress and she was an atheist.
What's the connection between intelligence and whatever is true. Do they necessary correlate?
Jobs became a Buddhist after a trip to India in 1974. Two years later, Jobs co-founded Apple and marketed the world's first personal computer, the Apple II.
Bill gates has, and will be Agnostic.
Anyways, "What's the connection between intelligence and whatever is true"
So it doesn't require Intelligence to know the truth?
Intelligence: The ability to acquire and apply facts and information.
Buddists are real short on gods. So the effect is similar.
Agnostics may not be atheists but I've never heard of them being pulled in to the fold of the relgious
en masseI notice you didn't say anything about Feynman and Pauling. I'm guessing that would be difficult when you are trying to connect intelligence with religion. That's always a challenge and I don't blame you.
It requires intelligence to know that the truth isn't quite as knowable as we would all like it to be. It takes intelligence to understand that even what we know is incomplete, in the overall scheme of things. There is always more to learn, whether it is about science or music or woodcarving or our friends. And the truly intelligent never assume they know it all.
That seems to exclude the religious who claim they are intelligent and that then claim that their skydaddy did it. That's giving up way to early. And taking the easy way out. For very wrong reasons.
As your religious forefathers argued against the earth being in orbit around the sun, others started wising up and studying the world and the universe and so for the last 500 years or so our knowledge base has has been growing instead of being dismissed as irrelevant. If someone had come up with a computer in the dark ages they would have been burned at the stake. Enough of us are wiser now to prevent tiny minds from trying to take over the world (at least generally) and things have gotten a a bit better.
It may be possible to be both smart and religious, but you wouldn't know it from observing current examples. Rick Santorum for example.
You need better role models.
Is this like, your job or something?
You seem to do it all day, every day....
I have to go, I have more important things to do
Thanks and God bless
(ps, I actually started this thread with the intentions to just put something long and complicated on a forum, and added the "this proves evolution wrong" just cuz I wanted to,)
Ah, you're a dork. Sorry, I missed that part.
And this is a hobby. I don't have to spend so much on bullets this way.
