Letting Go of God
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:41:43 AM »
Letting Go of God is a monologue by Julia Sweeny.  She talks about her transition from a good Catholic to an atheist.  It is a very sensitive, compassionate and thorough handling of the journey.  At times it is very funny - when she describes how her inquiry began with two mormon boys trying to convert her.  At other times it is very sad - when she describes the deaths of her brother and her father. It is always well done and smart.

Her path to non-belief so closely followed my own that I could relate to everything she said.  It is a brilliantly done performance and I would recommend it for anyone who is an atheist or who wants to better understand atheists.
What's true is already so. Owning up to it does not make it worse.

Thanks for the link as I have now watched the whole series (I had only heard audio excerpts before). What a perfect way to describe the path to atheism.

At the end, this was also linked and is hilarious:

John 14:2 :: In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
