But I am out in the yard starting to build a bridge, dam, pond, and using turkey grit as railroad track scaled ballast.  You probably saw this site:

That's cool - I hope you can post some pics of your progress. Yea it can start adding up fast. But quite a bit can also be created at little cost if you are creative

Here's a couple of loads I just made for flatcars. Fiber optic cable and electrical cable spools from cheap items I got at Hobby Lobby -

The true nerditude has arrived. I love trains, too but the kind you can get on and go somewhere. &)

I like the Amtrak AutoTrain ...

Damn! We need more trains in the US of A!
Extraordinary claims of the bible don't even have ordinary evidence.

Kids aren't paying attention most of the time in science classes so it seems silly to get worked up over ID being taught in schools.

I too, am a model railroader. Furthermore, I make my models in Lego...just did a show with WAMALTC at the B&O Museum.

I'm going to update this thread from time to time, in case anyone is interested in modelling.

Here's some LED signals I've been installing -

Yes.

Now since you said that I am forced to provide another picture for the day. Here is a chain link fence I made in N scale - 1/160th real size. Very tiny!

It's coming along rather nicely. I love the little extra details, they add to the realism.
Thank you for considering my point of view; however wrong it may be to you.

Yes sir. The fence supports are made from a piece of cut hardware cloth, and the chain link fencing is a fabric called tulle I got at Hobby Lobby.

I also made the wood load on the flatcar too.  :)

Not a model railroader myself (though my dad was), but as a wargamer I appreciate the skills needed to do the modelling.  Must work out how to link to pictures so I can show off some of my stuff!
Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid.
Why is it so hard for believers to answer a direct question?

Do post.  I'd like to see your work.

I collect and paint fantasy minis.  Vintage Ral Partha, mainly.  Well, I collect them.  I actually drag out the paints every couple of years.  I have about 800 minis.  About 600 of them require painting or repainting.  If I only do one a month - a rate far in excess of my current rate - I will probably die before I finish them.  The next house Mrs Screwtape and I buy will have a mancave where I can keep my paints set up permanently.

Ohh wish I knew, I sold off all my 40K minatures which included some Ral Partha stuff from the late 80s when the partnered with Games Workshop.

I propose the name of the thread to be, "Nam is more interesting than me" or "I...I...I am A Sad Wanker".  :P

I kid, it's just a hobby at the end of the day. I program as a hobby and people might suggest that it's equally as boring. It's definitely geeky.

Most of the time, but when pianodwarf strips he can wear it if he wants to keep some piece of clothing on.

I propose the name of the thread to be, "Nam is more interesting than me" or "I...I...I am A Sad Wanker".

Nam has nothing on us model railroaders - we can hold hot soldering irons to our fingers to simulate eternal torture.

Just you wait. I am planning some scenes that will blow your mind. One that I've never seen modelled is a helipad with full lighting following the FAA specs for helipads. Oh shit yea.  8)

A Church under demolition!!!!

Actually when I used to do an HO layout, my parent would take me to Kliens Trains for the 50% after Christmas sale with my Christmas Money. I had bought a graveyard kit to put around the church, but when I opened it up the large cross was broken. Since I had gotten it on sale...there was no returns.  I was sad; but then I got an idea. I got my preacher figure that had a sort of angry expression and open mouth that was pointing at the ground. I guess he was supposed to be a fire and brimstone type pointing at hell. I had him beside the cross pointing down at the broken bit. I then got a policeman writing a ticket and put him in from of the preacher.  Created a little vignette of a vandalism report being taken and I was quite happy with that.
