The current edit limit, prior to a little note being inserted on the bottom of the post is very short ~1 minutes. Theists seldom use the edit function, because they don't care how badly they argue, or spell. However, those of us with some pride in our work, often see a speller at around 2 minutes. There is no way to place a few spaces after your last line, so the edited notice always seems to move up against your last sentence, due to some kind of phantom space deleter. Maybe I should put invisible dots in there.
