The meaning behind your avatar?
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:22:40 PM »

Mine encapsulates the perspective that comes with Taoism. I'm not always true to the perspective by the way.

Sometimes, I suck as a Taoist.

Listeria monocytogenes.  Causative agent of Listeriosis and one of the most fatal causes of food poisoning.

I'm a microbiologist so my avatars are always that of bacteria or viruses.  ;D

The bacteria is a bitch for people who are pregnant.

It's one of the most epic pictures I've found of Blaziken

Yes it is.  This organism is the reason OB/GYN's tell pregnant women not to eat soft cheese or raw processed meats.

Yes.  He was one of the quiet forces behind some of my favorite albums.  And his work was a major influence on how I approach my own music.

My avatar = Artis = the Spoon Man.  Soundgarden wrote a well-known song about the guy because he's strange and talented and has played with some very famous musicians.

His shtick is to make noise creatively; silverware is just a tiny portion of what he works with.  I'm a drummer who's fascinated with abstract improvisational music, and people like Artis inspire the fuck outta me.

Somewhat self explanatory  8)

I read...and read, and read...etc.  And while I am now middle aged, when I pick up a really good book, I feel like I did when I was a little girl just getting the reading bug - hence the pic.

Although with the times a changin' - I may have to rename to 'e-readerslave'  :?  I haven't actually picked up a genuine, made of paper, paperback in a couple years now...

I used to have a pic of my keyboard Backspace key, but I think the image was lost in a server changeover or something.  I couldn't relocate that image, so I chose the eye because it was handy and fit the avatar size requirements.  I may reload the backspace picture if I can find it or take the time to take another photo of it.

"Backspace" reflects my poor typing skills -- I use that key the most (thank dog for spell check).

Many of you probably recognize my avatar as being the titular character from the film "Edward Scissorhands".  I chose that as my avatar because I identify very strongly with the character in a wide variety of ways.

My avatar is Me in woo-woo white linen robes, playing batter-up with the Clue-By-Four™, a hefty piece of rune-inscribed lumber.  (The runes say "Heimskingistafr," or "Idiot Stick" in Old Norse.)

And that's the M42 nebula from Orion in the background.

Mine is to remind peiople Jesus Christ rose from the dead to save the world from having brains.
An Omnipowerful God needed to sacrifice himself to himself (but only for a long weekend) in order to avert his own wrath against his own creations who he made in a manner knowing that they weren't going to live up to his standards.

And you should feel guilty for this. Give me money.

This is just a picture I thought would look good enough for an avatar, I made it myself.

Here is a whole page about it: http://thespiritguide.wordpress.com/2008/07/18/the-devils-exorcism/
