Ban a book about book banning - during national banned book week - a week to raise awareness about the drooling morons who ban books.

There is ALWAYS something in the news involving stupid religious people doing stupid things for their stupid religions. Some exorcism that kills someone. Murder & mayhem. Corporal punishment gone wild (as above). Mental illness. Exploitation. Rape victim stonings.

All of this great content is simply lost in the noise. There's always some celebritard who vomited on themselves to gobble up the public's attention.

A list of links to the most recent, heinous religiously motivated deeds needs to exist. Not only because it's interesting reading, but because it's evidence of what base ignorance religion really is, in the face of all of the 'my religion never does wrong' retards out there.

We have a section for Chatter & fluff. We call it "Chatter". If Religion & Society is getting cluttered up with Chatter & Fluff, I recommend you harass the board mods to do some house cleaning.

That is my two bits, anyway, and I am certainly not the final word. Pony & HAL may see it otherwise and grant a "Religion in the Nude" section for you.

I liked having a Religion in the News section, too. It was a very handy place to post interesting news items that might not necessarily require a lot of discussion. Especially quirky little offbeat items. I saw Religion and Society as a place for more "important" topics for discussion. Now I end up having to dump many news items in there by default. Didn't we used to have a "Politics" (or "Religion and Politics"?) section, too? The political items end up getting dumped in Religion and Society, too.

Relevant to the video posted: Damn, THAT'S where I came from. And I KNOW that high school. Damn. I had no clue some idiot girl actually thought that book needs to be banned. I love Ray Bradbury's short stories. I have yet to read Farenheit 451, but it's on the list on "Books that need to be fully read before I die." I'm glad students stood up for that book and didn't let some overly-sensitive religious nut get rid of one of the more influential books.

The idea of "Religion in the News": Yes please. I have to keep scrolling through all the little tid-bits of ideas, chatter, and contemplation in order to get the news section.

AND it would be a way to actively solicit news sharing. After all, though searches can find certain kinds of religiously based violence and insanity all the time, all kinds of other things one might never thing to SEARCH for happen all the time, and could be easily missed unless someone stumbles across a story and mentions it.

And it's not as if this is the only forum in the world. In debates with theistic trollers, it's fun to keep them off balance with REAL WORLD events done in the name of their favorite gods.

You know, the fun way a 'REAL CHRISTIAN' is no longer a 'REAL CHRISTIAN' when they do something horrible, but, you know, they get forgiven, so then they're a 'REAL CHRISTIAN' again?

Yay! for the students who are petitioning to keep the book. I wish the student who spoke on camera would have added "and all those jesus freaks can go speak in tongues at church instead of sticking their foots in the mouths at our school." But, of course, something so brash can't be said in Texas ... well, something so brash against religion cannot be said in Texas.

On a side note, I spent a wonderful day at Lake Conroe relaxing on a boat ride around the lake, swimming, eating, drinking ... all on a lazy day. I had no opportunity to soak up the local culture of Conroe, but the entire place is loaded with churches.

...from the witness being asked 13 times whether he was mistaken it appears Worthy Redeemed is arguing that he never grabbed the wheel (even though previously elsewhere he had done exactly that)

One thing in common with most of these 'exorcisms' is the overriding need to HURT the 'possessed person'. Even if you KILL THEM, it's better than being possessed by da devil 'n stuff.

For every one that's caught, dozens do serious harm and 'faith heal' the broken bones, brain damage, etc. away... from any hospital that would ask any inconvenient questions.

Method: RC Planes? Even with big ones, PACKED with explosives, these would most likely cause relatively little damage to the pentagon. It's a big, solidly built building. Go rent a REAL plane, load it up with whatever you like, and fly it into the building yourself. Bug smashers are utterly unregulated, and one REAL airplane would do more damage then 20 RC planes, assuming you could reach the target.

Help: You know, just like trying to hire a 'hit man', if you go asking people for 'explosives', you're going to meet cops. This idiot was allegedly well educated, but couldn't figure out how to make explosives for himself.

Cause: No cause helped whatsoever. Blowing random people and things up only pisses people off. You get on the news? You could get on the news in AMERICA any number of ways NOT involving carnage. Miracle Baby!

Mom prays for baby's well being, gets capped.

Will we get the update about the baby's actual condition? Little Alvero wasn't born with a heartbeat. It isn't clear how long mom was laying there with no pulse. Paramedics managed to get his heart started after they cut open his mom on the church floor. It has been roughly three days since the incident, and no update on his condition.

I hope for the best for the baby, but does having your mom's brains blown out while in church praying for your welfare count as a 'miracle'? Never mind (very likely) suffering brain damage in the process.
