Thanks for the reply. Here are some brief comments to consider...
Agnostic atheist ...
I can see telling most people that you are an agnostic. It's much less likely for the ardent religious to take it as a challenge to the nonsense they believe. Tact is an important part of life. When I have time and don't have to deal with a$$holes ($$ to pass cuss word filter) I use the complete term "agnostic atheist" even if it causes some confusion.
Courtesy is not respect...
I agree that you should be *courteous* towards people's religious beliefs, and to other people in general. Respect for beliefs, though, must be earned. It's not a gimmie.
Not so brief comments...
Make no mistake; I do respect people's rights to believe anything they wish. I do not respect the beliefs, though, unless I agree with them or aspire to them. An example: I'll fight for the KKK's right to march, while I'll fight for the right of anyone to combat them with words in public if they intend to spout that nonsense in public.
Anyone who speaks in public should be able to defend what they say with words and not get offended even if others challenge them with a belly laugh.
One of the problems is that any mention of non-Christian ideas tends to make some people get angry -- they are showing a lack of courtesy and, let's not mince words, they are bigots.
"Make them think, what if they just might be wrong, If i was wrong i would accept it. But will they?"
I entirely agree. Many won't. Pat Condell has some wisdom and wisecracks on that issue;

Keep in mind that atheism isn't equal to logic. There are illogical crystal hugging quantum power pyramid atheists out there. Thankfully, it seems to be that there are very few, yet my sister is an atheist that still thinks there are 'energies'. Well, there are ... but not in the way the new age people think. For the real 'energies', talk to a physicist!
