I recently re-discovered the uncomfortable enjoyment I get from this song:

The 2010 world cup was ruined for me by that slippery bastard Paul.

Why is it that independent music is often 20% cooler than big corporations?

Can't remember if I've posted these guys before , but they're one of my all time favorite bands and I finally got to see one of their shows a few months ago.

Here read a book.  It's free.

Why is it that independent music is often 20% cooler than big corporations?

Because you're pre-disposed to look for the coolness in the indie. If you weren't told which band was indie and which one was with Sony, you'd probably struggle to spot any additional 'coolness'

I beg to differ.

I find that modern radio music is too repetitive, and generally has shit lyrics.

It's snowing outside, and this sad song takes me ahead to the heat of summer.  Live blues from the old Smother's Brothers show - finally canceled because it became to political.

Going to see these guys this year.

I can't fucking wait. They're a parody of 80's hair metal, but fucking amazing, worth putting a smile on your face.

Claim: repetitive music with sh*t lyrics is less cool than unrepetitive music with deep, poetic, or involving lyrics.

I've discovered Lana Del Rey.  I think she's really great.  I don't get the hubub over Lorde, particularly after Adele and Del Rey.  Lorde is fine and certainly has talent.  But I saw some headline about her totally reinventing pop music.  Seems over the top and unwarranted to me.
