Well, I got some Behemoth for Christmas and have decided to get around to listening to it.

I know religious groups in Poland have tried to get them in trouble on more than one occasion under their blasphemy law, they probably didn't help themselves when they tore the bible up on stage. Would be fun to see them live.

Clearly I listen to different music than many here. :)

I actually don't listen to as much now as I used to, but today I listened to

Is it just me, or is this song about the evolution of mankind as opposed to special creation and its eventual transition into code loaded onto computers.

I probably spend to much time here ... and on youtube :)

Quote
I am made of magic and wires
And I am everything at the end of it all
I am moving[1] from the mouths of liars
And I am everything and nothing at all

I am speaking order from within
I am aberration by design
Still right here as I have always been
I am nature, perfect by design

Feeding on the apple in the sea[2]
You have done exactly as you're told[3]
Filling us with everything we need[4]
Turning common metal into gold[5]

And all my arms will stretch across the sky[6]
And you will see the glory of it all[7]
Watching from a million different eyes[8]
You will see the glory of it all

Speaking in tongues, this has begun, I am the end of it all[9]
We have become zeroes and one, I am the end of it all[10]
This is the place, this is the time I am the end of it all
Speaking in tongues, this has begun, I am the end of it all
 1. methinks there's a silent 'away' here, the liars being creationists
 2. apple is a reference to Genesis; sea refers to the primordial soup
 3. you = god ... DNA takes care of 'creating' the various kinds, any god involved did nothing more than adhere strictly to the proberties of DNA
 4. DNA takes care of everything we need
 5. carbon into lifeforms
 6. We'll spread out across the universe
 7. ...and surpass any ancient notions of godhood
 8. the millions of believers who look on in stunned silence
 9. tongues = CSharp (or insert language of preference)
 10. binary
Science: I'll believe it when I see it
Faith: I'll see it when I believe it

Ooh, I know my uncle's a fan of them. :)

I finally decided to get around to trying out some X Japan today, my friend's a massive fan of theirs, so not sure why I've not listened to them sooner.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for stupidly long songs. :P

When my mom and dad were young, they would have "themed" dates.  An Italian movie, Italian food.  French movie, French food.  As the years went by, my sweet father always loved to watch movies that were associated with some sort of theme.

As a kid growing up in a secular household, this movie was part of our spring break tradition.  In later years, The Last Temptation of Christ would also become part of the tradition.  But the Jesus Christ Superstar of my youth was always my favorite.

It is a product of its era - the moment in which the hippies gave way to disco - but I watched it again this evening, and on many levels, it is amazingly fresh.

It presents a very interesting interpretation of the scriptures, one which is certainly not in current fashion.  But it contains a significant body of quotes taken from the English translation of the NT.  And I like the music.

If you've never seen it before, push through and give it a chance.  If you haven't seen it in years or decades, you might find yourself enjoying it.

<3 Dimmu.

This was an interesting thing to see though:

Too many metal bands are using orchestras now XD. But to be fair, Dimmu is meant to have a symphonic twist, it just seems weird having a really demonic band with songs about satanism backed by a really well-dressed orchestra like you've just turned up to see the opera...aside from obviously all of the mud.

However, I'm listening to a bit of Chimaira, not listened to them for ages. Used to listen to them a lot as a teen...I remember it was what I was listening to when I read the satanic bible. ;)

Although I have misplace my copy of it, this is from my favourite album of theirs.

.

Also, was a big listener of Breed 77 at the time, guess I'm having a bit of a nostalgic music session. XD.

Man, I love you.

Also, 63 days to Wacken and I'm already getting psyched for it. Gonna be seeing Rammstein, so I've been listening to some. Looking forward to fire n shit.

I am a bigger fan of their older stuff, but still love them.

And I'll make sure I catch Alice Cooper

And Deep Purple, was surprised to see them announced.

Oh and why not Ugly Kid Joe? Not listened to them in years, will be good to actually see them live.
